A Practical Plan for a More Efficient Home

Enerways helps Ontario homeowners connect the right upgrade scope with current rebate, financing and assessment pathways.

Residential consulting

Start with the building, not the rebate.

A strong retrofit plan considers comfort, heat loss, moisture, equipment condition, budget and timing before selecting a program. Enerways helps organize those decisions and identify the pathway that fits the actual project.

Our support can begin with one priority upgrade or a coordinated plan for several improvements.

01

Envelope

Attic, exterior wall, basement, foundation and exposed-floor insulation, plus air sealing.

02

Windows & doors

Planning replacements around comfort, durability, energy performance and program requirements.

03

Heating & cooling

Heat pump and HVAC upgrade guidance, including related electrical and distribution considerations.

04

Integrated planning

Sequencing multiple upgrades so that assessments, contractor scopes and documentation align.

Home Renovation Savings

Two routes for eligible Ontario homes

Home Renovation Savings is delivered by Enbridge Gas and Save on Energy, with support from the Ontario Government. The correct stream must be established before the work begins.

No assessment required

Standalone upgrades

The current program lists heat pumps, solar and battery storage, attic insulation, smart thermostats and eligible appliances under no-assessment pathways. Contractor and application rules vary by measure.

Assessment required

Bundled home upgrades

This route begins with an initial home energy assessment. Homeowners complete at least two qualifying upgrades and then a follow-up assessment. The official program currently offers a $600 assessment rebate after successful completion and an extra $500 for three qualifying upgrades.

City of Toronto financing

Home Energy Loan Program — up to $125,000

Toronto’s Home Energy Loan Program (HELP) allows eligible Toronto property owners to borrow up to $125,000 for home energy improvements. The maximum is the lesser of $125,000 or 10% of the property’s current value assessment. Eligible measures listed by the City include heat pumps, windows and doors, basement, attic and exterior-wall insulation, rooftop solar and battery storage. The fixed-interest loan is repaid through the property tax bill; terms can extend to 20 years for projects that include solar PV, geothermal, new windows or heat pumps.

Eligible property types include detached, semi-detached and row houses, duplexes, triplexes and other Toronto low-rise residential buildings up to three storeys and six units. All owners on title must consent, and mortgage-lender consent is required where the property has a mortgage.
