Enerways can translate architectural, envelope, lighting and mechanical design information into a whole-building energy model and a structured submission package. The model is developed around the applicable code, municipal, lender or incentive methodology.
We use tools such as eQUEST and OpenStudio/EnergyPlus, selected according to the project and the accepting authority’s requirements. Toronto Green Standard Version 4 expressly lists eQUEST 3.64 or higher and EnergyPlus among accepted modelling options.

For new large residential or non-residential buildings and additions, municipalities may require documentation demonstrating compliance with the Ontario Building Code energy-efficiency requirements, including the applicable SB-10 path. We can support the model, calculations and report package for coordination with the project’s qualified designers.
Toronto large-building permit guideFor Part 3 buildings over 2,000 m² GFA, Toronto’s Version 4 guidelines require a Design Development Stage Energy Report before Site Plan Approval to demonstrate Tier 1 performance. Projects pursuing higher tiers and the Development Charge Refund may also require an As-Constructed Stage Energy Report based on as-built or issued-for-construction information.

CMHC requires appropriate simulation software and documentation from a qualified professional; results are submitted through the approved lender’s application process.
